Does failure of Vodacom to cancel contracts constitute *****?
I changed to another service provider in December 2018 because of poor service delivery of Vodacom.
My number was ported on 7 December 2018 to the other service provider. This service provider warned me that Vodacom fails to cancel contracts and that I must ensure cancellation. I thus ensured to cancel my contract early December 2018 by calling the cancellation department.
I realized in March 2019 that Vodacom continued to debit my account, despite cancellation of the contract in December 2018.
When I phoned the cancellation department they said that I must prove that I cancelled in December 2018. Emmanuel Ramavhale, the team leader promised to check the call recordings in December 2018 and get back to me. He never returned my subsequent calls.
I then spoke to the supervisor of the cancellation call centre, Andries Mo***eng. He gave me his e-mail address, ********** to send the itemised billing, which prove that I phoned Vodacom. I phoned three times to 1958 cancellation line, twice 1946 and a 33 minute call to 135 on 8 and 9 December 2018. He acknowledged receipt, but never gave feedback or returned further e-mails. I could never reach him at the call centre again, although he was said to be on duty several times, and the calls would cut off after up to an hour of holding for him.
I received information via 135 by a Bongani Thango that the credit was done. I however could not receive the money without confirming my bank details, otherwise the money would stay in a "Vodacom account" seeing that I did not have any account with Vodacom anymore. Bongani confirmed that my bank account details were still available on the Vodacom system and I confirmed it was the account where the credit should be deposited.
I received a Vodacom statement on 12 April 2019 stating the credit of R 1324.30 was done. The account was now zero. This amount, was, however never deposited into my account. This credit was in any case for the March 2019 invoice, which was debited again from my account AFTER I started the query and my second attempt to cancel my account at Vodacom.
Vodacom thus 1. Never cancelled my account 2. Failed to inform me there was a cancellation fee at the time of the premature cancellation of the contract in December 2018, amounting to 75% of the fee according to internet sources. My contract ended Feb 2019. 3. Never credited the fees from Dec 2018, to March 2019, which would amount to R2066.40, the 75% cancellation fee subtracted. 4. Never deposited the "credit" which was in any case the additional March 2019 debit order, not at all the fees incurred due to their failure to cancel the contract as requested in Dec 2018.
I found another helloPeter complaint which is identical to mine, and for the same time period.

I subsequently at recent visit to the customer care centre overheard my new service provider warn another customer that Vodacom fails to cancel contracts.
HelloPeter is my last resort.
I persisted for more than a month to try and sort out the cancellation. Held on for more than an hour to the call centre several times. And still failed to sort out the cancellation, and never received the promised credit.
My question is whether Vodacom fails to cancel contracts on a regular basis and then keep these fees in the "Vodacom account"?
Does this failure to cancel contracts of Vodacom constitute large scale *****?

AC MAHNE
