Do not take out contracts from Vodacom
Do not take out contracts with vodacom. I took out a data contract last year Black Friday for R399 x 36 . This month they increase the price to R490. I called them on Monday to complain. They logged a query and told me someone will call me. Today I just got a sms saying my ticket have been close. No call from them. I decided to call them again. The person assisting me just say sorry that no one called me. He confirm that my ticket have been closed and the case resolved. He told me the reason cause there was a price increase on my contract from 01 June 2023. I told him that I have sign a fixed contract for 36 months. He inform me that it is written somewhere in my contract. I told him that I was never inform about this and this was not my first contract with Vodacom, but was the first time this was happening. I told him that I can't afford the price increase. He tried from his side to migrate me to a cheaper contract but after sales did not allow it. I inform him that I WILL NOT pay this contract any further as I have sign for n R399x 36 month contract. I advise anyone even thinking about taking out a contract with vodacom to really reconsider. I have inform all my family members to steer very far from vodacom. Vodacom will never ever see another cent from me or my family or friends.
First of all I did not received any communication from you about a price increase. Secondly as per your first reply on this webpage , a consultant never contacted me.
I did however try and look for any of your communication on the internet. This is what I find:
From 1 June 2023, there will be an average tariff plan increase of 6.7%. This only applies to the tariff plan and not the overall bill, meaning there is no change to your handset financing or any value-added services. When it comes to your total bill, this means an average increase of 4.2%.
As per this communication you did not even done what is said in this communication. My total bill increase with 23%. How do you go from an average increase of 4.2% to increasing my bill with 23%. The numbers does not add up. I'm only 6months in this 36 months contract and you increase it with 23%. How do you expect me to afford this in the financial state everybody is in. This is so so much more than an inflation increase. My increase yearly is way less than this 23%. I even ask you to migrate me to a cheaper deal but you refuse.
You do not have you customers best interest at heart. If I was informed that your contracts can increase during the 36months period I took it, beleave me I would have never taken a contract with Vodacom.
I still can not accept that the consumer act allow this practice of you, or maybe know one have ever challenge this practice. I will also forward all our communication to them to get more clarity on this practice.
I still hope we can come to a better conclusion than your current stand on this very very serious matter.
Kind regards
Philip
