DO NOT PORT TO VODACOM

NB : VODACOM CONFIRMS INABILITY TO PORT NUMBERS INTO THEIR NETWORK BUT KEEPING IT QUIET FROM USERS

Decided to port my number to Vodacom after a few years with CellC for Voda's supposedly superior network and service. After 8 days my number is still dead. No-one is able to call me, cant send SMS, can't do USSD which means I can't do any online banking either. Gone to store several times, called Vodacom every day. Every agent tells me "I will sync your number, wait an hour". After I complained of the syncing the next agent told me "I will DOUBLE sync your number". They're just coming up with new terms now to get rid of me. Every agent promises to call me back, in over a week not once has one agent called back. Finally on Monday Vodacom admitted to me they have a NETWORK WIDE issue where ALL numbers ported into Vodacom does not work, and their teams are working around the clock to fix it, it will be fixed in 24 to 48 hours, and I must not call back for 48 hours. Now, 48 hours later I call again, still not working, and the new agent and "coach" knows absolutely nothing about the porting issue, I have to explain everything from scratch, and again they offer to sync my number so that I can try again.

My experience at CellC - especially in terms of customer service - was miles better than this, and Vodacom is doing its utmost best to prevent me from even testing this "superior quality" network of theirs, so at this stage it seems my best option is to cancel the port and return to CellC.
