DO NOT INSURE WITH VODACOM, THEY WILL **** YOU!!

I swear Vodacom Insurance are legit ****mers. Talk about daylight *******. Whatever you do, find another service provider.

I’ve been with Vodacom for over 20 years and I’ve insured all my IPhones with them for about 10 years. I’ve lost my phone only twice over the 10 years and this month I claimed again for repairs to my phone. I have an iPhone 13 Pro 512gig that I needed repaired and was told it was beyond repair and was offered a used replacement phone of about 80% battery life or a new phone of the same value that my iPhone 13 Pro 512gig was worth (book value) at the time of purchase which is the iPhone 16 pro 512gig because the iPhone 13s, 14s and 15s were all phased out. I am pretty sure they have all this information but now they are pretending that they don’t know how much my phone was worth at the time that I got it from them.

Back in 2021 after claiming for the first time from them, I called in and requested that they increase my premium because I didn’t want to have to pay their “betterment fees” in the future should it happen that I lose my phone again. And they agreed. So now that I wanted to claim from them again, I didn’t expect to pay a betterment fee. I am qualified to receive the latest replacement device from them which is the iPhone 16 pro 512gig but it had a betterment fee plus access of almost R10 000. So I opted to downgrade to a 128gig because it showed to have only an access fee and no betterment fee. Then they had to order the phone for me and I was called two days later to come and pick up my phone. When I get to the store, as I was about to pay, the system now showed a new betterment fee of almost R3000 along with the access that I was supposed to pay making the total almost R5500 that I have to pay just to get my phone which I have been paying insurance of over R400 for, for almost 5 years. This is clearly day light *******! I only went in there to get my phone repaired, I didn’t expect to meet such problems just to fix a phone that is already mine. I didn’t want a new phone, I just wanted my old phone fixed, now I have to pay betterment fees that I didn’t budget for. I honestly don’t understand why i should be paying a betterment fee when I opted to increase my premium so that I don’t have to pay any better fees. Also, why can’t they give me a voucher that is equivalent to the book value of my iPhone 13 Pro in 2021 at the time I insured with them so I can go buy myself an equivalent value phone? This really is not fair at all.
