Do not get your IT device/s from Vodacom
RANT ALERT!!!!
So Vodacom has been hounding me to do an upgrade; as my contract is about to expire. And then; as luck would have it; I brick ,y own personal notebook. I use my notebook daily to do IT support; so I thought it would be nice to get a data package (for work) and a device that comes with it. So me and the wife trudge down to our local Vodacom dealer; to inquire about one of their latest notebook/data deals. Oh boy. What a disaster! First we are told that no; they do not have any in stock; but that they can order me the one that I am interested in. Fair Enough. Then the manager/store owner approaches us, listens to our request, goes in the back and WOW... They actually have the unit in stoc****! Happiness! We are told that it will be processed on Monday; asked to leave our details and that we would get feedback on Monday. Nope. Nothing. Not a call/sms or even a tinkle form the dealer, either Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday. Come Thursday, my wife calls them and ends up being messed about by a very *********** consultant on the other side of the phone. Did I mention that my wife used to work for Vodacom in their retail side? Anyhow. So Thursday night; the wife and I decide to drive to the closest "other" Vodacom dealer in our area. Again, Happiness. We get there; are greeted by a very friendly consultant and told that yes; they have one in stock in the back. After some initial system glitches (Vodacom side); the order is processed and I get to leave with the device in hand. I get home; plug it in and charge it for some time. Try to power it on. Nothing. Charge some more. Nothing. The notebook is seemingly dead. So I charge it; google troubleshooting options and spend a considerable amount of time trying to see if I can resolve the issue. Nothing. They just sold me a brick! So why am I ranting you ask? Well because; to get this matter resolved; according to Vodacom policy; will take a minimum of seven days. Yes. Seven days. And then; they will only replace the faulty unit. Which means me, the paying customer, will be without the device that I use on a daily basis to earn my income, because they have archaic processes in place; cheap stock and a severe lack of quality control on their side. I get *****ed; whilst they make money. Thanks Vodacom. Will be the last time you get any business from my side.
