Do not buy online from Vodacom, the price they say is not always the price you will pay.

I decided to upgrade to a new iPhone 16 pro, went to Vodacom site and clicked on an upgrade for an existing phone. It was simple enough. Saw a deal I qualified for and it was done with a few clicks. The cost R999 per month as indicated and then came the surprise, an SMS message indicating the deal. And here I quote Here's the deal we,ve captured for you on ***XX ****** It is an Apple iPhone 16 Pro and at the end it listed the price @R999 PM (R588 Finance +E411 Sub on RED 1.3GB 200 min (48 months) at 1578.9845 It was the number at the end that concerned me. Not no R in front of the number to indicate it was a price, just plain text. So I contacted a sales consultant who confirmed I was correct, the price had jumped from R999 to a whopping R1578 a month. She had no idea why? It is the most misleading and underhanded tactic I have ever experienced at Vodacom. There just are no words to describe what I feel about Vodacom right now!

I asked to speak to someone senior at Vodacom regarding the misleading price. I will update this the moment someone from Vodacom contacts me. The reason I am making this comment is for you to be able to see how long a massive company like Vodacom actually take to respond. this is not a response to this as I doubt they will even read it but a respose from my request to the customer-services helpline :)

Yes it was nice of the consultant to phone me. Ask me exactly what I had complained about, almost like they did not read this complaint at all. And then as expected silence... When I showed my family a screen shot of the confirmation SMS, the first thing she said was "but is that not ***** daddy? How can they just add R579 onto the price." Now my complaint is two fold, one they increase a price that they themselves advertised and that the amount is a whopping R27 000 extra if you times it by the 48 month term.

To add insult to injury my complain has now been handed over to Tobi, an AI generated random non human response method which in layman's terms means file 13. If you would like to see the SMS in question and reach your own conclusion by all means look on X (twitter) and search rod skinner and you will see it. then decide for yourself
