Disrespectful Customer Service At Vodacom Springs Mall
Earlier today, I visited the Vodacom store at Springs Mall to seek assistance with a router that was not connecting. Upon entering the store, I was attended by a very friendly and professional consultant. I explained the issue to her, and she took the time to explain what needs to be done. She then suggested i approach a guy who was sitting behind the technicians counter for further assistance. As I was walking towards the counter, the technician, with a straight face and dismissive tone, said "why can't she do it herself "? I was completely shocked by this comment. It was disrespectful, unprofessional and completely inappropriate in a customer service environment. In that moment, I felt hurt& belittled & I chose to turn around & walk out of the store. The consultant who had initially assisted me & some staff questioned him about his comment but by then I was already leaving. I was more shocked than anything else. Im not sure what definition of customer service some people operate under, but this experience fell far below acceptable standards. Customers should never be made to feel small or embarrassed for asking for help, especially in a store meat to provide customer care. While not every staff member requires additional training, this particular individual clearly does. Such behavior should be addressed, so that customers do not have to experience such treatment in the future.
