***** Dispute
In March 2023 I noticed a deduction from Vodacom off my bank account which I queried because I don't even have any contracts with them. I returned this debit order only to be debited again the next month. Again I returned it but was debited a 3rd month. By this time I went to the Vodacom store to find out for which contract I am being billed for. The consultant informed me that she cannot find any active contracts on my profile except for the contract she saw expired and was canceled in 2018. She confirmed that my profile showed "paid up". I logged a complaint and was referred to their collection department who told me that she can see that the last 3 debit orders were returned. I explained to her that I don't have any active contracts and asked if she can perhaps see which contract I am being billed for. Her reply was that she cannot see any contracts but thinks it might be ***** on my account and that I should lodge a complaint with their ***** department. I did so and sent them all the relevant documentation together with a signed affidavit as requested. A few months later I received a reply saying that they don't think this is ***** and then no correspondence whatsoever from then on. In February 2024 I started receiving calls from a company called MBD saying I owe Vodacom R8733.11. Initially I thought that this was a **** but later learned that Vodacom handed the matter over to a collection agency who is now threatening to take me to court if I don't pay this amount. Yesterday, after further investigation I learned that the contact I disputed in 2023 was in fact canceled by Vodacom but that they now hold me liabile for the early cancelation fee witch is R8733.11. In this whole time they did not send me any statements or a copy of the signed contract as requested numerous times. I found out yesterday that a Fiber contract was loaded on my profile for a address in Port Elizabeth. I live in Bloemfontein and have never lived in PE for any period of time in my life. The phone number and email connected to this contract is also not mine. Because of a mistake that a consultant made last year by linking this contract to the wrong profile and Vodacom's reluctance to properly investigate, I am now held liable for a cancelation fee for a early cancelation of a contract which they cannot suply me a copy of. To date no one could send me the copy of the original contract that was signed. I also requested to see who signed for delivery when this was activated at the address in Port Elizabeth. It's been a huge struggle to get any proper information out of them.
