Dispirited by Vodacom

With my current contract ending , I took the decision to move to Vodacom.

I originally called ahead to check what was required from me to port my number to Vodacom to ensure a seamless port before pre-ordering my iphone 7.

I ordered the phone and did the original port with Edward from Vodacom.

Friday 7th of October 2016

My application for referral number ********** 5 is approved (via sms)

· Wednesday the 12th of October 2016

A one-time pin is received to confirm that I can continue with port to Vodacom

Port is approved

Customer order number ********** 5 is processed and should be dispatched shortly

· Thursday the 13th of October 2016

Handset is delivered by Ram Couriers

I opened up the package and noticed that the sim card was not a nano sim.

I went to Nicolway Vodacom to get Nano Sim, whilst there I called Vodacom after sales to advise them of thenew sim code and to ensure the port was done to that sim card - all was confirmed.

As advised by phone consultant I emailed Vodacom the slip for the new sim card cost

Received an sms to state port will take place 14/10/2016

· Friday the 14th of October 2016

Spoke to Edward in after sales & was told the port will take place that evening.

Contacted 082 111 – was told to insert sim card into phone and check for signal – there was none.

Contacted the porting division – got shouted at by consultant and told that the sim should not have been inserted – advised on above phone call and was told to turn phone off.

· Saturday the 15th of October 2016

Went into ****arney Mall Vodacom Store.

After numerous phone calls – got hold of a consultant and advised her of phone calls the previous night and possible sim card issues – was advised that this should not be an issue.

I was told the port did not take place and it will be lodged to take place on Sunday the 16th of October 2016 I should leave my phone off for 24 hours.

After leaving the store I received an sms saying the port would take place on the 17th of October 2016.

· Sunday the 16th of October 2016

Left phone off as instructed

· Monday the 17th of October 2016

Port still had not taken place as my mtn number was and is still active.

Phoned Edward and he was very apologetic – he said that the port should take place between 19:30 and 23:00 in the evening.

· Tuesday the 18th of October 2016

Port still has not taken place

Phoned Edward & he said he would call me back in 5 min – 12 min later he called back and said that he has spoken to the porting department and will get back to me asap – in 5 – 10 min…. I am still waiting for his call.

Phoned back to Vodacom After Sales requested to speak to a manager – was told I would be transferred to Jennifer – was unknowingly put on hold for 15 min.

Told Jennifer the entire story above – she apologized and assured me that she would contact me before COB today – should my phone not be ported by the 18th of October 2016 – I would be able to cancel the entire transaction without any liability on the 19th of October 2016 and the handset would be collected (on a recorded phone call)

15:41 – Called for Jennifer she was in a meeting

17:24 – Called for Jennifer and was told she had knocked off for the day – asked for Edward he had also knocked off for the day.

Total Phone Calls to Vodacom & costs incurred:

· 082 111 – 5 Phone Calls

· ********** – 7 Phone Calls

The level of inconvenience financially and personally I have experienced trying to become a Vodacom customer is ridiculous – why is it necessary for the client to run after the service provider in order to get an answer.

As far as I am concerned the only connection I have to Vodacom is a Iphone 7 in a box – as I am not even on the Vodacom network – in my mind the phone should get collected and I should open up a contract with a network that actually wants my business.

I understand that technical problems occur – but failing to contact the customer as promised is just just terrible service.

I am astounded and disappointed by the entire experience and to be honest I don’t even know if I want to have a contract with Vodacom anymore.
