"Dismal Experience: Vodacom's Lack of Accountability and Customer Support"

I got a call from a third-party dealer associated with Vodacom. The seller aimed to persuade me into an "upgrade" for my contract. Despite my initial refusal, they insisted I listen. Eventually, they assured me that upgrading my contract would incur "No additional fees" – just a data increase without extra costs. I emphasized this point during a recorded call to ensure clarity. I assumed the issue was resolved.

However, at the end of the month, I noticed a sudden doubling of my contract costs. Upon checking my billing information, I discovered a new line added to my account, resulting in extra charges. While I don't inherently oppose the new line, my major concern lies in the discrepancy between the seller's assurance of no additional costs and the reality of me now paying double.

I promptly reached out to Vodacom to try and resolve the matter. I first went to a physical Vodacom store where I was simply told it was not their issue to resolve and that it was an online matter. I was left to determine what to do next on my own. I then found the cancellations department and asked them to cancel the contract. They informed me that the 3rd party seller is the only one that could cancel the contract and that Vodacom had "nothing to do with it". Strange then that they are the ones billing me. I did however accept this and the vodacom employee logged a query and told me the 3rd party seller would have to review the voice recording of the call after which they would get back to me. She also gave me a reference number.

After a month with no response, and having paid for a contract I did not approve, I contacted cancellations again. They promised to escalate the query. Despite another month passing with an additional payment, there was still no resolution. Upon calling again, the query was escalated once more. Multiple months have passed without any feedback, while debit orders continue deducting money for the contract.

I am thoroughly frustrated and would never recommend Vodacom due to their apparent lack of responsibility for third-party vendors. The vendors, seemingly indifferent to client concerns, contribute to a situation where nobody takes responsibility, leaving clients to suffer. If this matter remains unresolved, I am prepared to take more drastic steps to bring it to a final resolution.
