Disingenuity of and anti-competitive rates by Vodacom
I find it unacceptable that Vodacom has been charging me an anticompetitive rate for my fibre connection. I have been billed R909.00 monthly for what was supposed to be a 100 / 100 mbs connection speed rate, when in reality my connection has been 50/50 mbs since June 2023.
I called the Vodacom call centre on Monday 16h55 and queried this. We performed a live speed test with the call centre agent (Amanda) online where the above was verified. She apologised profusely and advised she would query with her line manager. She reverted to advise that I would be compensated for the error, and Vodacom will give a R500 voucher as an incentive for the error on their end.
I confirmed that the call was recorded. I was promised a feedback call before 9 am on 31 Oct 2023 which did not happen. I received a call from the same agent yesterday after 3 p.m. and I advised I was busy and that we could connect after 4 p.m. When we eventually connected, the very same agent (Amanda) reneged on what was committed to on Monday and offered me another anti-competitive contract for another 12 months at R819 per month for which I had been paying R909 for a 100mbs line speed. This in comparison to other providers was still off the mark.
At this juncture, I find Vodacom to be very disingenuous, and ********* to say the least. I hereby demand a rebate for the prior month's overcharge and I have indicated that Vodacom sticks to competitive rates if not I would suggest a termination in the contract. I am awaiting feedback from Vodacom.
