Disgusting Service at Vodacom Ballito Junction
I am extremely disappointed with the service my daughter recently experienced at your Vodacom Ballito Junction store. As I am currently overseas and unable to visit in person, I sent my daughter to apply for a new contract in my name. Unfortunately, her experience was far from satisfactory.
Upon entering the store, she was warmly greeted by a kind lady, whom she described as appearing to be of Chinese descent. This staff member made a positive first impression and kindly asked my daughter to wait for a consultant. However, this is where the ordeal began.
Instead of attending to customers, the consultants were huddled in a corner, laughing and discussing who would be going to lunch first. It was the same lady who initially greeted my daughter who had to step in—after finishing with another customer—to remind the consultants that my daughter needed assistance. The consultants seemed uninterested but eventually decided to acknowledge her.
When she finally approached a consultant, she was met with a dismissive attitude. After explaining that she wanted to take out a contract and had my authorization as the account holder, she was flatly refused assistance. While I fully understand the necessity of following security protocols, especially given the rise in *****ulent activities, that does not excuse poor communication or unprofessional behavior. There was no effort to kindly explain the requirements or offer any assistance in a courteous manner.
I was a Ballito resident for several years before relocating, and I always received excellent service at this store, which is why I chose to send my daughter there. I was saddened to learn that both Karen and Naledi, the last two employees I had positive experiences with, are no longer there. Under the leadership of Ken and Letitia Webb, employees like Sharlene, Geraldine, Wayne, and Andrew embodied exceptional customer service, making the store a welcoming place. It is unfortunate that their level of professionalism is no longer present, and instead, customers are made to feel as though the consultants are doing them a favor by simply doing their job.
I do, however, want to express my gratitude to the greeter who welcomed my daughter with what she described as a genuine and warm smile. Her kindness did not go unnoticed, and I appreciate her professionalism.
I strongly urge Vodacom to reconsider its hiring practices and ensure that employees demonstrate empathy and professionalism toward customers. Exceptional service should not be the exception but the standard.
