I bought an iphone x on a vodacom contract last August.
Last week, the phone suddenly stopped reading my sim.
I took it into the cellucity where I bought it at Tygervalley and was told I'd need to take it to the Canal Walk vodacom repair center.
No problem, the phone has a 1 year warranty that is still valid.
Today I got an sms telling me to call them regarding a quote.
I thought that was odd, surely its covered?
Nope. Due to a superficial crack (about 0.2mm) on the plastic cover over the camera lens, my warranty is now considered totally void.
The quote? R10,550 to replace the device.
I rejected the quote and was informed the phone would be returned unfixed.
It is totally useless without a working sim reader, and my claim is being thrown out because of some superficial damage on the other end of the phone?
Totally disgusting. I will not be letting this go until it is correctly dealt with.
