Disgusted by Vodacom’s R100 Penalty for Failed Debit Orders

I am absolutely disgusted that Vodacom charges a R100 penalty fee for a failed debit order — even if you make the payment within a day of it bouncing. To think that someone’s debit order fails (often due to something as small as a timing issue or bank delay), and Vodacom’s response is to slap on such a massive penalty, is inhuman and spiteful.

If someone’s account is struggling or there’s a banking delay, the last thing they need is another R100 added to their bill. It’s pure greed and feels like theft in broad daylight. This kind of policy shows just how little Vodacom cares about its customers.

On top of that, their customer service is atrocious — endless bots, automated replies, and hoops to jump through before you can speak to an actual person. It’s clear the company has no genuine concern for its clients, only profit.

I honestly cannot wait for my contract to expire, because this is unacceptable and deeply disappointing from one of the country’s biggest service providers.
