Disgusted by the service received
I see so many horrible reviews about vodacom, and I don't think this is going to change anything, but let me vent. I took a contract with Vodacom last year March 2020. I was sold a cellphone contract that comes with 2 sim cards. The phone is a dual sim phone. After thoroughly discussing what I'll be getting, and me working out my budget to confirm that I will be able to afford it. I agreed. At that time I had another contract for data, which was running on a month to month. August I called to cancel this month to month as I no longer needed it. The consultant I spoke to did not seem to want to cancel it, but I put my foot down and told him I don't need it. Eventually he cancelled, but somehow charged me 10 bucks for keeping the number. That didn't make sense, but I let it be. For 2 months my statement reflected that my contract was indeed cancelled. Then December boom, I was debited almost 70 bucks more, no communication, no explanation, nothing. I made a mental note to query it. and I didn't. January, same thing. I went to the store, gave them this whole story, I was told I upgraded, the other story was that it was a 6 month promotion, the other was that the sale was done incorrectly. None of these explanations make sense. After several trips back and forth to the store, and several phone calls, I received an SMS that they will cancel the additional number, as it was the reason my bill was high. This still did not make sense, and worse, they were not answering any of my questions. How was it that in the beginning I was invoiced R186, which is what I signed up for, then 9 months later the invoice increases? What changed? They just opted to cancel it without telling me why or how. My query was never that I wanted to cancel, I needed clarity. Fast forward, number is cancelled. Then February 25th, boom, I was debited the very same amount that I am querying. I am so upset and annoyed, frustrated that I don't know what to do because this is not what I expected. Another thing I queried, I received one statement that said my contract ends in 2023 August. How that will be, I am confused. A 41 month contract. But hey, nobody wants to account, or explain, and investigate. By the way, my case was sent for investigation, but things are only worse. I honestly regret this relationship.
This feedback is unacceptable for the following reasons
1. I never received any discount, I've spoken to Randall and Millicent, and none of them advised of a discount that I was given
2. The communication when I took out the contract was that I will be receiving a dual Sim device, which is being Samsung A21s, with 2 Sim cards. No discounts, agreement to pay 180 over 30 month period
3. I asked that Vodacom listen to the recording in order to provide clear feedback on what transpired, and find an amicable way forward.
4. I was clear in the beginning of what I was willing and able to pay, any additional charges now I do not accept
5. I asked that the extra billing be stopped, I continue with the contract the way it was the first few months after inception, and that I be refunded for the 5 months that I was billed
6. This has not happened, instead, I am now to pay extra on top of the initial agreed costs, and also the line for airtime has been deactivated? No explanation, no call, no feedback, no discussion. Just that the line is disconnected, and I find that out when I had to make an important emergency call???
7. I am beyond livid. I am shocked, and I am confused at the kind of micky mouse games that you are playing there. I've had to take out so much time out of my day to explain in detail to your staff, and the feedback I get is that an erroneous discount that I was not informed about, was canceled, and that I am being billed?
8. What is the meaning of a signed contract? Is that not an agreement between all parties? Where is my agreement in any of this? Where is my agreement with regards to the discount? Where is my agreement on the cancelation of the line?
9. Your mistakes should not inconvenience me as a customer. I am expecting to pay the agreed amount because that's what I asked for. I expect to receive the service I signed and agreed to. I expect you to hold your end of the deal as I do mine with timeous payments.
10. Stop treating your customers like uninformed people who don't know what customer service is. You have failed me dismally, and you are taking accountability in any of this to fix and and give the client what they expect. I am not asking for miracles or favors, I am asking that you give what you said you will give, which is what sealed the contract. I would have never agreed to the contract if I had known of hidden amounts that would pop up 6 months down the line.
I will be taking this to the ombudsman.
From a very furious client
