Disgraceful Service, Predatory Cancellation Policy & Staff Who Cannot Do Basic Maths

I placed my fibre order on 28 September 2025. The line was advertised as month-to-month - no fine print, no stipulation that "month-to-month" only applies to the speed tier and not the actual contract. That is deliberately misleading advertising, plain and simple.

Due to Vodacom's own delays, the installation only happened on 25 October 2025 - nearly a month after I placed the order. That is your operational failure, not mine. I was billed pro-rata for those few days in October, which I paid without complaint.

I am now calling to cancel effective 30 September 2026 - exactly 12 months from when I placed the order. I am then told by your consultant that my cancellation can only be processed on 31 October 2026, because "the contract started in October 2025." So I am being penalised for your installation delays and forced to pay for an entire month of fibre I will not be using.

To make matters worse, when I pointed out that October 2025 to October 2026 is 13 months from my order date - not 12 - the consultant had the audacity to insist she was correct. I had to explain elementary calendar arithmetic to a Vodacom representative, who still refused to acknowledge the error. That is an embarrassment.

This is not my first rodeo with Vodacom's appalling service either. I had to escalate via HelloPeter just to get my initial installation actioned. Now, history is repeating itself.

And when I called to cancel - a simple, clear request - I was subjected to a barrage of retention pitches and alternative suggestions instead of being listened to. I said cancel. Not "offer me something." Not "downgrade my speed." Cancel. I am the consumer. You are the service provider. Your job is to serve me — not to hold me hostage and throw obstacles in the way of a basic cancellation.

Vodacom, you are outstanding at signing customers up and absolutely catastrophic at everything that follows. Your advertised terms are misleading, your billing logic is questionable, your staff are undertrained, and your cancellation process is designed to frustrate and ******. I will never take out another Vodacom product again, and I will make sure everyone in my network knows exactly what to expect.

Sort yourselves out.
