Disgraceful customer service

We have been trying to cancel a contract with Vodacom for over two months, and the experience has been nothing short of disgraceful. We were repeatedly advised to phone *** for cancellations. Dutifully, we followed this instruction more than 20 times, sitting through endless prompts and assurances that “someone will contact you.” Not once did anyone contact us. Today, out of pure frustration, we finally tried a different approach—selecting menu options unrelated to cancellations—just to speak to a human being. Only then did we learn the shocking truth: the cancellation system doesn’t even work. So Vodacom knowingly directs customers into a dead end, while happily continuing to deduct debit orders month after month. At last, after endless wasted time and effort, the contract was cancelled—but now Vodacom insists that we must still give 30 days’ notice, even though the entire delay was caused by their broken system. In other words, we are forced to pay for yet another month through no fault of our own. This isn’t just poor service—it’s corporate negligence. A company of Vodacom’s size has no excuse for such dishonesty and inefficiency. Customers should not have to play phone-menu roulette, trick the system just to speak to someone, and then be penalised financially for Vodacom’s own incompetence. If you value your time, your money, or your sanity, avoid Vodacom at all costs.
