Disgraced by incompetence

On 12 July I received a letter of demand from Jacobs Burnard & Associates stating that an amount is considerabily overdue and that I have failed to meet my obligations in respect of their services rendered. On inquiry I was told that I was handed over to a Debt collector for a contract that was cancelled 2 years ago. The contract was cancelled in writing and I have even paid a cancellation fee. I have e-mails and proof of payment plus confirmation of the cancelation. After two years the first documents I receive is a Letter of Demand faxed to my place of work which is a public fax machine for the whole world to see. I am appalled that Vodacom does not have the decency of even sending me an e-mail or other means of communication? My contract was cancelled in the manner which Vodacom prescribed and according to their instructions. Now I demand an explanation to what happened in their departments that I be handed over to Legal. Surely this cannot be the way in which an international company operates?
