Disappointing service after more than 20 years.
I have been with Vodacom with the exact same number for over 20 years. It was initially under my father's company name, but was debited from my personal account. In February, I changed the account to my name. As I was long overdue for an upgrade, I chose a package that suited my needs. I went to the Vodacom store in Rosebank and dealt with the most disinterested, tired and bored individual, who didn't even show me the specials that were currently on, but which I've heard of from friends and colleagues. Hence I chose the Red Select + at R799 per month (I know numerous people who got better deals than this). I went back this past weekend to confirm my debit date and another assistant (equally tired) said my account will be debited on the first of the month. This weeky account was not debited, but on the app, I can see an invoice for a balance from my previous contract that says the due date is 29/02/20. Today I made a total of 6 phone calls to find out firstly if my banking details were captured correctly and secondly, why my account has not been debited. Everyone I spoke to was very kind but could give me no information and promised to get back to me but didn't. Lady number 5 gave me a reference number. Tonight I got an sms saying that the ref number has been resolved. I called the number to ask what exactly 'resolved' means and the lady could not tell me, but did say she will follow up and call me tomorrow. My complaint is two-fold: firstly, why was I only offered a standard package which doesn't even compare to other people's packages for a lesser price; and secondly, when can I expect my account to be debited if my online invoice says an amount was due at the end of February. Like I said, I have been with Vodacom on this number literally all my life, it is the only number I have ever owned. Why am I being treated so badly and so poorly, especially at the price I pay Vodacom each month? I am also very disappointed in the attitude of all the staff at the Rosebank Mall branch. Even though nobody could help me telephonically, the 6 people I spoke to were at least polite. I expect much better, more so because of the length of time I have owned this number and the fact that my account has never once been in arrears. I consider myself a good client. Is it too much to ask that Vodacom treat me as such? I am currently very afraid of my number getting cut off due to an error on Vodacom's side as I cannot be without this number. I am a medical professional on call, and I have 2 severely asthmatic sons who only have this number to call me on in an emergency. Please can somebody take me seriously and attempt to assist me.
