Disappointing and inflexible

After numerous phonecalls, store visits and failed attempts to procure a data sharing sim on a 50GB topup contract, I finally get told that data sharing is only possible on an open contract. So no problem, right? It can be converted to an open contract. Just one catch- for the remainder of the contract, the monthly fee will be just short of DOUBLE the original contract fee. Not because an open contract is that much more expensive- I could literally take out the open contract as a new one, and pay less for both than what the converted contract would cost on its own. All because I just want to put a sim card with an old number (currently prepaid) into a brand new, dual sim phone bought specifically for this purpose, and be able to use the data I'm already paying good money for, while keeping the functionality in the LTE router. Contract cancellation - not an option, without paying a fortune in cancellation fees. Data transfer- Also not offered on topup contracts (hidden in the depths of the fine print) Can Vodacom offer any kind of advice/recommendation or assistance on this matter- no. Or maybe they just choose not to. From a service provider whom I truly believe is the best- in terms of the actual internet service, this lack of flexibility on contract options is extremely disappointing.
