Disappearing Data/Breach of POPI act
It’s been a week since Vodacom said they would attend to the issue of my disappearing data. In the last 6 days I have had 40GB of data disappear from my account due to 2 apps that I DO NOT have on my device and I have not accessed. Apps in question are Tumbler and Amazon Cloud. In trying to muzzle my issue, vodacom said as a goodwill gesture “we will give you 10GB of data “ essentially to keep my mouth shut. The data was immediately gobbled up by the above apps in 12hours or less. Vodacom should acknowledge its inability to deal with the issue and should any of my data be compromised, they should be willing to take responsibility because I am of the opinion that there is a third party who has access to my device and/or data. As a result of this, I believe Vodacom is in breach of the POPI act by not protecting my data.
