Didn't switch to prepaid

I phoned a few weeks ago to cancel my contract in order to switch to prepaid. I was told to switch off my phone for 24 hours on the 30th of April (which I did), and that I would then be on prepaid from 1 May onwards. This didn't happen and I was again credited with my contract data and minutes. This of course means that I will have to pay another month's bill. When I phoned today (1 May) to hear why the switch didn't take place, I was told that there is no note on the system regarding cancellation. The lady then put me through to the cancellations department, who disconnected me. It is very convenient to just say that there is no note on the system and to then charge me for another month. I'm fairly sure that this is against the Consumer Protection Act - if I'm not switched to prepaid by the end of today, and not refunded for the contract data and minutes that I haven't used, I will have to take this further with them,

24 hours have come and gone, and I've received no call. Perhaps it's time to call the ombudsman.
