Did You know that with Vodacom Data disappears and Airtime evaporates into thin air? #IntendedPun

In the last few weeks, I noticed a pattern in my airtime vanishing quicker than usual. At first I thought there might have been some price adjustments, but when this continued, I closley monitored my airtime and data usage. I carefully browsed the net, closed off all unused pages and applications. I uploaded and viewed less videos and images on social media, limited my calls and took advantage of any 'savings' option for calls: Power Hour etc. Dispite all my efforts to cut down, the vanishing airtime and data continued, infact it escalated. I lodged a complain to Vodacom, tweeted about it and realised that I was not the only one. Vodacom failed to explain to me where my airtime was going, they advised me to check my settings, which I did, over and over again.

So much for my new year's resolutions: to budget my spending and save more. Yesterday 01-01/2017

I topped up my R200 (per month contract) airtime by recharging with an additional R200 and bought 3GB for R299, I was hoping this would last me for the month of January, but at 9am this morning, I discovered that I have R0 Airtime R0 Data bundles from both the contract and recharged airtime. I switch off my mobile data when it is not in use, and the total number of calls I made (After I bought the power hour option) do not even go up to that hour. Now Vodacom says that they will get back to me in 48 working hours. Meanwhile, I have lost over R500 in less than that 48 hours, this excluding the contract fee that I am already paying them.

All the people I spoke to at the custormner care centre have a scripted, generic response about 'Check your settings, we'l;l investigate further'. I have been with vodacaom for almost 20 years, I am disappointed, but even more so concerned about how much money is going missing in older persons who don't know where or how to complain. Students whose parents think that they are young and irresponsible, meanwhile it is the netwrok provider ripping people off. It is disgusting to say the least, that a big business such as this could resort to this low level of cunsumer exploitation. I hope that the competition cellphone network providers will take advatange of Vodacom's blunder and offer us better options becuase I know many, like myself, are ready to change networks. I have been loyal, but this is dayl and night *******.
