You would think that loyal, long standing customers would actually be able to get a simple cell phone sent to an address without much fuss... Well, don't be fooled! I happen to live overseas but require my ZA number because I am a South African with all the necessary requirements of a service number in the country. But, be careful, Vodacom and their delivery company RAM, will only deliver to you if your PHYSICAL ID is at the delivery address... Yes, you have to somehow be detached from your ID 10000km away to receive a delivery - I even had the grace to phone both companies to offer them whatever proof they needed for the delivery, not to mention, my parents name is the same as my own and the address for delivery is the very address on record!! But, according to Vodacom "customer service" (pffft... not), my original ID needs to be at the delivery address (even though, there are registered copies with my parents who have full authority...) - in todays day and age, where I can order a phone from amazon or takalot and have it delivered directly without any fuss, no, apparently Vodacom, is going to help rid South Africa of ***** and crime by detaching owners from their ID for a delivery - what absolute nonsense. I have to admit, I am thinking after many years (possibly 20+in recollection) of dumping Vodacom because, my current overseas provider would do cartwheels for me - would you Vodacom? Apparently not!
Best regards,
