Demanding R7,500 to Cancel a Faulty Fibre Service? Enough is Enough

I’ve been a loyal Vodacom customer for over 10 years, and frankly, I’m shocked at the way I’m being treated.

I renewed my Vodacom Fibre contract last year, and ever since, I’ve experienced frequent and unacceptable service interruptions. This is not the first time I've had issues with the line — and it’s not the first time I've tried to cancel either.

Now, despite the ongoing problems, I’m being told I have to pay R7,500 to cancel — for a service that has consistently failed to perform. I’m still using it, but only because I’ve had no choice. I’ve reported issues before, and Vodacom is well aware that this connection has not met basic standards for uptime or reliability.

Charging me to cancel a contract you can’t even uphold on your end is not just ********* — it’s exploitation. I’ve paid every month without fail, even when the service didn’t work. I’ve given Vodacom multiple chances to fix things. Now I want out, and you want to punish me financially for walking away from a service that hasn’t delivered?

I am formally requesting that this cancellation fee be waived in full. I will not pay thousands of rands to escape a broken service. If Vodacom refuses, I will escalate this through every available channel, including HelloPeter, consumer watchdogs, and legal avenues if necessary.

Loyal customers deserve better.

It has now been more than 48 hours and no one from Vodacom has contacted me.

Thank you for proving my point.

I want my Fiber Contract nullified and I will not pay any fees. Since you are publicly just reflecting your lack of service.

After my last reply here, someone from Vodacom contacted me and confirmed that the line was cancelled and the cancellation fee was waived. However, my account has been debited again for the same line, and it is still active. This raises the question: why is a line that was supposedly cancelled still active, and why was I charged for it?
