Deleted cell number.
I have had my private cellphone number for over 24 years with Vodacom. It used to be a contract sim but then I converted to prepaid when I received a work contract, which is also with Vodacom.
My sim has been off for 3 months and when I tried using the SIM today, it says number does not exist. I called customer care and they told me my number has been deleted and that there is nothing that they can do, and that it will be recycled, but I will not know when. They don't even have a department that deals with recycling of numbers, so these is no one that I can speak to.
I desperately need that number back. I have been a loyal customer of Vodacom and my employer has over 9000 business contracts with Vodacom.
23 years with that cellphone number.

Thank you for the time and effort taken to voice your dissatisfaction to our office. It is with the cooperation and feedback from valued clients such as yourself that we are able to identify any areas of improvement within our organisation. Kindly be advised of the feedback received:
Vodacom has a published policy on its practice of recycling MSISDNs, based on dormancy or inactivity.
This policy – DOLA (Date of Last Activity) dictates, that after a defined period of inactivity 110 days, the CRM systems are to lock a dormant line and notify the subscriber that in 7 days the line will be deleted. After 7 days (120 days of inactivity), a final SMS is sent to the subscriber and the line is deleted. 48 Hours later that deleted MSISDN is then availed for new activations. The new process is to sign up for a postpaid or hybrid line and, subject to the number still being available, a MSISDN swop can be arranged.
