Deceptive renewal of contract

I received a marketing call from Michael Peter, who told me he is calling regarding my Vodacom number which is now on a month to month contract since last year. He specifically stated that he is not trying to sell me anything, so I don't have to worry. He offered me a slightly reduced fee for slightly increased airtime received monthly. He said this was because I was a loyal subscriber and Vodacom is making their pricing more affordable due to COVID-19, he also offered to deliver free online training courses via a voucher. When he was finalising he said, a reminder that this fee reduction will be for the 24 months of the service. What 24 months? I said. The 24 months of the contract. He said. But my contract is on month to month, is this a renewed contract? I asked. Yes, he said. I stated this is a new contract in the beginning of the call.

This is a deceptive way to try and lock in month to month customers into another 24 month contract. He never stated that this will be a renewed 24 contract. I think this is an ********* way for Vodacom to do business.
