Deceived into a contract

Good Day

In July I was contacted by a company called Mondo /Rewipe which is affiliated with Vodacom offering me a Mobile Wi-Fi R207 – Z.

Absolutely free as I was told by the lady that called me because of the way I have managed my accounts with Vodacom for the pass years.

Knowing nothing is free I furthermore tell her that I do not need this Mobile Route as both my business and home has uncapped ADSL and Wi-Fi.

She still insists that it’s absolutely free and is an exclusive offer.

I then tell her, are you sure that it’s free and there is no additional charges for this Route.

She insist in saying again, no it’s free. I then agreed to have the Route delivered to my business.

Approximately 6 weeks later another lady from this company, Mondo / Rewipe called offering me the same Wi-Fi R207-Z except this time the consultant says that the Route is free but I will be paying R119.00 for the data.

It was then only that I discover that the route is not free and my account has been debited each month to the amount of R119.00.

After that day, two other consultants from the same company tried to sell me the same route.

Being so upset I failed to ask for a contact number but decided to go to a Vodacom store for assistance. They then gave me a contact number for Mondo/ Rewipe.

I then tried to contact this company for some time until I was finally succeeded in getting through and could finally lay the complaint. Their excuse was that they had a problem with their lines.

I was then told that someone will call me in the 24 /48 hours after an investigation.

A few days later another person from this company then called and told me that I was fully aware that the Route was free and I was advised that I will be paying for the data R119.00 per month.

At that moment I requested to speak with her manager and explained the situation. She told me that they will be sending the recordings to a Vodacom store and I will only need to take my I.D book with to hear the recording. This was last week.

Thinking that I have made some sort of progress I decided to visit a Vodacom store on Thursday 17th.I then discovered that no recordings was send to Vodacom. The acting manager at Vodacom store Kenilworth then calls Mondo / Rewipe explaining to the consultant what had transpired.

She then tells me that my request was unsuccessful for the recordings to be send because I was advised that I will be paying R119.00.I then asked to speak with her manager but she said that they all in meetings. Continued to be unhelpful she said my request for the recordings will be escalated just as the previous consultant had told me.

Clearly I am dealing with *********** people deliberately deceiving Vodacom customers. I also believe now that I am also not the only customer that have been deceived. My question that I have is why do a huge company like Vodacom affiliate themselves with a company like Mondo/Rewipe that clearly will do anything for a buck?

I would also like to know how Vodacom will intervene to resolve this problem a.s.a.p.

Regards

Shameema Modack Jacobs

Contact : ********** 620
