Deceased Estate

My whole family have contracts with Vodacom and have been with them for many years. I took out a contract in 2004 which was then taken over by my mother in 2008 when I went overseas. My mom is a housewife so it was obviously put into my dads name along with his existing contract.

My mom renewed her contract in May last year but it was a smallish contract without a handset. Sadly my mom passed on in October and since then we have been given the run around between customer service etc and the end result is that we either owe vodacom about R5000 to cancel the contract or we keep paying it until it runs out. Now I am fully aware that it is a contract but surely we cant be liable since there was no handset involved and we are now paying for minutes and data that cannot be used as she is deceased and my dad has his own contract?

I realise business have certain policies in place but surely there are certain circumstances where something can be done and the poor consumer isnt always left sucking the hind tit. Shocking service in my opinion.
