Deceased account nightmare

I am extremely disappointed at Vodacom's handling of my deceased father's account. I spent the better half of today trying to get through to the legal department - which is impossible using the ********** number provided - instead you get transferred to customer care, who usually put you through to about another 2 or 3 consultants before you are able to speak to the legal dept.

Once getting through to them, I was advised to send through my late father's death certificate and copy of ID but was not advised at any stage to include the account number in the communication - something which has apparently now delayed the process. I was also not advised that my mother's number, which is associated to my late father's account, would be suspended.

Despite immediately sending through the required documentation, I cannot get any response from Vodacom regarding the next steps - and how I can get my mother's account reactivated as soon as possible. It is extremely unfortunate that Vodacom makes an already stressful time much more stressful by leaving a bereaved widow without cellphone access - a service we would gladly pay for immediately if we were given the option. Without doubt - of all the service providers we have had to deal with following my father's death, Vodacom has been the worst to deal with.

I would really hope that someone would urgently get in touch so that we can put through a change of ownership on my mother's cellphone number as soon as possible.

This has not been resolved at all - in fact Vodacom just managed to successful waste even more of our time. A consultant made contact with me and assured me that we could do the change of ownership without having to wait to hear about the cancellation of my deceased father's account. All we needed to do, he said, was go to a branch with the necessary documents. So off we went only to be told that we had been misinformed... so here we are five days later, and my bereaved mother still without cellphone access... Vodacom, we are getting tired of your meaningless assurances. Clearly your customers mean nothing to you.
