Deceased account cancellation
Dear Vodacom,
You leave me with no option but to attempt to resolve this matter on all forums possible seeing as though the other channels have been unsuccessful to date!
As you may, or may not, be aware (despite my best efforts to inform you on multiple occasions) my father passed away at the beginning of April 2018.
Unfortunately for us he was a Vodacom subscriber - as he had been for more than 15 years (if memory serves me right). I have been trying for almost a month now to get confirmation from you that this account be cancelled (due in large part to his DEATH!!!!!!!!!!).
I have sent multiple emails, with various documents attached (depending on the requirements of the day provided by your call centre drones). To no avail. Not only have we not received confirmation that the account is closed more than a month later, but now I get told there is an amount that must be paid to settle the account!!!!!! How obnoxious and disgusting can one corporation be?
I am horrified at the treatment we are receiving as a family who are already going through a difficult time i dealing with my father's death. Personally I have been a Vodacom subscriber for more than 15 years and currently have four numbers/data contracts with you. I am certainly going to move every bit of my business away from you so as to ensure that my family does not have to deal with this level of torture just to get a cell phone contract cancelled.
The ironic aspect of this is that my father's account was due for an upgrade in 2015 - which he never exercised and so has been on a month to month basis since then. Had I simply phoned in and given one month's notice this would be over already...
I am disgusted and appalled at you treatment of faithful clients. But perhaps with so many subscribers and such dominance of the market this one does not make much difference... Time will tell.
Yours sincerely
Marc
