Debiting my account without authorisation

Two years ago I agreed to an upgrade telephonically. At the time I was quote R799 p.m. for the contract. When it was implemented I noticed that Vodacom was billing me R999 for the contract subscription. After much debate, Vodacom investigated the calls and determined that they had made an error on their side. In order to resolve the problem, Vodacom app**** a “subscription discount” to my bill each month.

Two years later, Vodacom d my contract fee to the originally quoted subscription charge, without my permission or any notice of such. When contacting Vodacom in December 2016 they explained that due to the contract going over 24 months (early upgrade) the contract amount defaults back to the R999 p.m. This was not disclosed to me nor am I aware that when a contract term expires, the provider can push the price up and deduct the funds without informing the client. I am sure as a Financial Services provider, it is the obligation of the FSP to inform the client of all financial implications?

I am disgusted that a client can makeup to 15 calls, speak to multiple people and attempt to resolve an issue over a 3 month period and Vodacom do not care a damn! Needless to say, I have taken this matter to Icasa and I am appalled and this will be the last time I ever deal with Vodacom.

I was hoping that Vodacom had finally sorted out my account since posting this comment, but unfortunately, that is not the case. I received my refund eventually and decided to cancel my contract. Funny thing is that I have just received my final bill where yet AGAIN they have billed me for a full month subscription despite cancelling the contract AND have billed me R1500 odd in data charges. Point is that not once in 24 months have I used that amount on data and all of a sudden now that I have cancelled they want to bill me this??
I logged a dispute and still not response from Vodacom. Do yourself a favour and keep far away from Vodacom. Customers are just another number and they will try ***** you wherever they can!
