Debit order penalty and shut off of account

I am extremely disappointed with Vodacom once again. They debited my account and for some reason it did not go through EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE FUNDS IN MY ACCOUNT. I picked this up and proceeded to arrange that the debit order go through via their Vodacom App and this was confirmed via WhatsApp by them to go off on 10 May.

Today I was VERY surprised to find that my phone had been switched off. No one had bothered to contact me during which I would have been able to explain the above. With no way to contact anyone for assistance, I then had to find someone who's phone I could use to try and make contact with them to find out what happened.

I am then told that they see I had tried to reschedule this payment and have good faith and will reactivate my account. I have to wait TWO HOURS for my phone to be switched on again. I will not even go into detail about the inconvenience this caused me.

Then I am told that a R100 penalty along with my usual debit order will be deducted from my account because of the initial failed debit order. I now have to download and email a statement as proof that I indeed had money in my account on the day the debit order had gone off. I've done this and honestly I would be VERY surprised if this penalty is reversed.

Ridiculous. These people are *******. But we as consumers have no other option because they have the best coverage. This is why they continue to allow this. Disgusting.

Thank you. I see the debit order went through yesterday. Please check that everything is correct on Vodacom's side as well. I've sent proof that I had funds available in my account on the date the debit order failed. Friends of mine have also had issues with their Vodacom debit orders not going off lately. I'd suggest Vodacom also phone their customers before switching their lines off.
