Debit order

Sometime in March 2019 my account was blocked and upon calling Vodacom I was informed that my debit order was rejected. I told them that it is impossible as I always have funds available in my bank account on the 1st of each month. So eventually it came out that they have automatically changed my debit order date from the 1st to the 7th (without me instructing them to change the date) when I upgraded a month or two before that. Since then I've phoned several times and also used the Vodacom Customer Care WhatsApp line to get the debit order date changed back to the 1st, whereby they confirmed that the debit order date has indeed been changed back to the 1st (the last request was on 15 Jan 2021 via WhatsApp) which I now thought was 'the real thing'. The proof of confirmation is still on my WhatsApp. Anyway yesterday, 10 March I receive a call from a number which only reflects as the number '3', I answer and the number gives a dial out tone and a guy from Vodacom is on the line. He informed me that my debit order has been rejected again and that a payment arrangement can be done to which I obviously agreed, with a double debit order for 1 April 2021. Today, 11 March I cannot dial or use my data on my phone, so I call the Customer Service Centre. A lady answers and assists me with my query. The outcome is that my account has been locked due to a 60 day outstanding balance. I told her that I've already made an arrangement yesterday for the double payment and did not know that the account will be locked. She then said that the guy I spoke to yesterday should have informed me that my account will be locked until the debit order has been taken on 1 April. Sorry can't help you unless you make payment. Yeah I should have ensured that the debit orders did go off before transferring my funds into other accounts, but still, why do I have to inspect that each month, whereas I've never had an issue with any other company except with VODACOM! At this stage I will not be upgrading any of my contracts with them again and fortunately one of the contracts is about to expire.
