Dear Vodacom, Is Customer Service Optional Now?

If you're looking for rude, unprofessional service, visit the Vodacom Superstore at Liberty Mall and ask for Hasena. I visited the store on the 6th of August 2025 after confirming with a staff member over the phone that he’d be available. When I arrived, another employee claimed no one by that name worked there. Confused, I waited to be assisted. When I was called up to Hasena, she didn’t even lift her eyes from her phone. I greeted her twice and both times she blatantly ignored me, too busy scrolling and tapping away. Her body language and expression made it clear I was an inconvenience.

When I asked about the staff member I had come to see (the same one I was previously told doesn’t work there) she snapped back, “We only know his surname,” in a cold, condescending tone. As if it’s normal not to know your own colleague’s name. She spoke as though I was disturbing her personal time, not a customer needing assistance.

What shocked me most was that when the consultant I came to see finally arrived, Hasena started openly gossiping about me right in front of me, no shame, no professionalism. She mocked me for asking for him by name, as if I was stupid for not knowing that.

The entire interaction was laced with rudeness, arrogance, and complete disregard for basic professionalism. Hasena made me feel unwelcome, dismissed, and disrespected as if she was doing me a favour by doing her job. It was an embarrassing and unpleasant experience no customer should ever have to endure.
