Data sharing SIM sham
I have been trying via Vodacom massaging and physically going to the shop, to activate a data sim sharing account. In the shop, I was told that it cannot be done as I do not have the right contract. Also if I do it, I will have to change my contract plan and pay R90 per additional SIM ontop of it.
The Vodacom webpage states the contrary, indicating that on a red data plan, 2 additional sims are free and then R25 for the other 2. I also have a data contact with Vodacom.
It's disappointing, as I moved to Vodacom for that feature, as this feature was active on my cell c contact, but cell c's network coverage was lacking. Seems like it was a mistake to move from cell c in retrospect.

02 Jun 2020, 12:52Vodacom eventually contacted me a day or two after my previous response. They could not help me out. I must admit that I failed to understand the difference between their different contacts. So with the contract that I chose I can not have the data SIM sharing option.
They did not want to move me from one contract to another, even though both contracts cost the same. I then made it clear to the consultant how unacceptable it is that a company like Vodacom can not even get simple things right - where Telkom, cell c and MTN do not have issues like this. They also said that if I cancel the contract, that I will incur penalties fees: compensating them the fees lost over the whole 2 year contract period.
I guess that it all comes down to good work ethics. I was sitting in a Vodacom shop, with a consultant informing an old man about additional an once "SIM activation fee for only R95" and then an additional "once of R45 service fee" or something, when he was signing for a contract. The infrastructure is in place for a long time already, but Vodacom decides to rip their customers off, trying to squeeze the most amount of cash out of them with additional overinflated fees.
Now I am stuck with a contract for the next 2 years, however after these 2 years I will definitely do my business with another service provider. I will also do everything in my power to convince people to make the move to another service provider. Got my wife on an MTN contract and am better off for it.
