Vodacom sends an SMS stating that you have no available data, but can purchase 50MB for R4.00 if you dial *111*96#. No special conditions are stated. After you have purchased the data, you get a SMS stating that the data is valid only for 1 hour.

Apparently, this is stated during the purchasing, when you are trying to find the keypad option to confirm - something that we didn't pick up, because we saw this as a time limit in which to confirm the purchase.

We have just lost R4, as we cannot use the data now, and were wanting to use it later on this evening. We tried the call centre, but got no help, and were told that a refund was not an option.

How much data do they sell in this way, that never gets used. To me, this reeks of a **** designed to target pre-payment users. The very users who cannot afford to lose R 4.00.

If you sell 50MB of data, the person purchasing it should be entitled to the full 50MB. Otherwise the limitations should be fully disclosed when sending out the advertising SMS.

Best regards,
Cassandra phoned, was very pleasant, and has addressed this immediate matter. Thank you.
However, I will reserve full judgement, and see if the marketing department who sends out the SMS's has taken any notice of this.
