Data consumption dispute.

Since the beginning of May 2017, my data consumptions have been unusual. I use a Wi-Fi router on a PC daily, and I noticed on May 5th that data consumption is unusually high, whilst my internet sessions and activity remained the normal.

1. I contacted Vodacom to complain on the 8th & an agent gave a standard explanation that it is because of “system updates”; I disagreed because that occurs and always gave once a month every month, & data consumption has never been as high.

2. Dissatisfied with the explanation I requested a detailed data consumption report from one supervisor who promised to revert to me with the report but never did.

3. Furthermore, On Monday the 15th I loaded 5Gb of data that would usually last for almost a month however this time it was depleted in merely 5days (by 20th May)!

4. What’s particularly alarming is that on the 20th of May I received SMS notification at 20:29 that I have less that 249Mb of data and by 20:38 I received another notification that it had run out! So, I loaded another 250Mb around 21:15 and surprisingly at 23:59 I still had 236Mb of it remaining. Now; considering that between 21:15 & 23:59 my internet activity was no different to 20:29-20:38 I am convinced that data consumption is irregular & unusual!

5. I write this hoping Vodacom will make contact and help me make sense of this or simply compensate the inexplicable excessive data charges experienced.
