I currently have 2 data bundles loaded on my account as I expected the one to be used up before it expired. A week later I checked my balances only to notice that my data usage had been coming off the newer bundle that I had purchased and not the old one that was about to expire.

This didnt make any sense to me so I called customer care (111) to ask what is happening. The first lady that I spoke to told me that it was because of the update settings of some of my apps and that I needed to change these. I immediately said this made no sense so she put me on hold for ages before I was speaking to someone else. I explained the situation to him again only for him to tell me that it happened because some of my apps reserve data. This caused the other apps to use the newer bundle as the data left on the old bundle was reserved. This also made no sense to me no matter how many times I questioned and tried to understand. I also asked why the data value on the old bundle had only changed by a few megs over the past week if the apps had reserved this data. Ultimatelty he put my call back through to the original lady who logged a call for the technical team to call me back and explain what happens for a technical perspective.

Later I receive an sms to say "please be advised that the order of consumption for data bundles is as follows: the last bundle in/allocated will be the First Out (to be used)."

My question is this, how does this policy make any sense?

Oh, and why could the customer service not tell me this instead of wasting over 30 minutes on the call?
