Data Breach
After my phone got pick pocketed, we contacted Vodacom to claim for insurance. After a while we returned to the store and the called the claims team
It was declined as it was insured for damage alone (I reside in the cape flats, really now?) And they had no information of my S10.
What was insured was a Iphone which was covered for damage.
When we took out the insurance our IMEI number was provided, all communication wether it be on Twitter, email or telephony was about a Samsung S10... but when it was time to claim another details was in my account.
How did that information get there? How did the IMEI number get there?
The agent I spoke to agreed that there'd been some sort of breach of my personal information on a recorded line. He also promised me a phone call from his manager, recordings of the calls about insurance and to deal with this matter.
It's been three weeks since that conversation, I still don't have my phone nor do I have an answer to how and how large the data breach could be.
Before I seem resolutions through bodies that protect customer information and breaches like this, I'd like Vodacom to resolve this.
