Data Activation

On 13 September 2016 I attempted to purchase data via the self-help service on the *111# option but the data was never activated on my handset. On the morning of 14th September 2016 I again purchased data (this time via the myvodacom webiste) and again the data was not activated on my handset.

When I contacted the Vodacom call centre on 14 September 2016 I was informed by Ms Ncbakazi Celeni that the Vodacom self-help options were not currently available. I could purchase data (for the third time) telephonically from her or wait until the service is working and the data already purchased gets activated.

When I complained that it wasn't fair to be charged out of bundle rates (as my data bundle had depleted while I waited for the already-purchased data to be activated) Ms Ncbakazi Celeni advised me to turn off the data on my handset!!

This is grossly unfair! Vodacom essentially left me with two options: Pay more for data than I need to or go without it!

Reviewer Update

Following this previous incident, I have once again been unable to purchase data bundles using the Vodacom app or the *111# option. This has once again resulted in me being charged out-of-bundle rates for data usage when I have in fact tried to purchase data bundles and have been unable to do so through no fault of my own!!

I am of the view that it is grossly unfair to be charged a higher rate for a service when Vodacom does not make it possible for me purchase data through self-help options.

I request that my data usage charges be reviewed and Vodacom instead charges this usage at in-bundle rates.

Regards
Nicky
