Damaged Phone vs Insuarance

Dear Sir/Madam I would like to log a complaint about the service I have received from Vodacom. My relationship with Vodacom is over a decade to date, but I am writing this letter with a sincere heart after the response I received regarding Vodacom’s insurance and my damaged phone. Last year in April 2018 I bought a Samsung S8 at the Mall of the south shopping centre, the sales person advised me to call the insurance and confirm my intention regarding using my old cell number/sim-card on Samsung S8 and not the new sim-card. Within that month (April) I called Vodacom insurance and the guy I spoke to confirmed that it is ok, as long as I have notified them, then the phone is covered. Unfortunately, when I was taking the phone out of my hand bag to answer, it slipped, dropped and got damaged badly. When I took it in for repairs July 2019, I was surprised to hear that I am in bright of contract for using the old sim-card instead of the new one on the S8. I do not accept nor agree that am at fault while I notified Vodacom insurance of my intention for using the old sim-card number on the S8 instead of the new sim-card. I am referring this matter to you for assistance, I have been a loyal costumer to Vodacom, I have renewed my contract with them a couple of times including the insurance. My main concern is that I have been paying insurance instalment monthly from April 2018 as per the agreement. I am not happy with the image Vodacom portrays, they have given me false advice and now I am the one with a damaged phone and which requires over R4 000.00 to repair. Your response and assistance will be highly appreciated. Regards
