Customer Service Non-Existent

At about 11h00 today my phone indicated that I had "no service", meaning no cellphone coverage. I assumed Vodacom was offline and personally enquired at the Vodacom Store in Century City as to what the problem could be (this would be the store next to Spec Savers). I was given a number and told to wait until I was called. Within 5 minutes my number was called and I was then informed by the customer assistant that Vodacom had DEACTIVED my sim card. Obviously I never requested this. I was exptentantly annoyed by this and was informed that it was an technical or administration error on the part of Vodacom. When enquiring as to how this could be rectified, I was informed that I must purchase a new sim card in order to do a sim swap. Let me repeat "I MUST PURCHASE A NEW SIM CARD THAT VODACOM OUT OF THEIR OWN ACCORD DEACTIVATED". I requested to speak to a Manager. The Manager would not walk five steps to discuss the situation with me, but rather informed the Customer Assistant that I must pay for it. So I leave the store with the information that new stock was arriving and I can come back within the hour at which time I could PURCHASE new sim card. So, I arrived back at the store only to be informed that they don't have a sim card and I must walk to the other side of the centre and purchase one at Cellucity. Again, I asked to speak to a Manager. Her name was Anisa. She approached me with such disdain, I was rather taken aback. She never introduced herself, she never asked me what the problem was, her opening lines to me were "Yes, what is the problem". Whilst explaining to her what I have been through the entire day, she turns her back on me mid-way through the conversation and tells me the Customer Assistant will sort it out and that in fact the store does have the necessary sim card. The Customer Assistant was huffing through the final stages of getting my new sim card and gave it to me to put in my pone. I dared to ask that she please do it - let's just say the response in attitude wasn't worth it. Nevertheless, eventually when I had to pay for the new sim card, Vusi, a wonderful Customer Assistant was the first person throughout the whole day to apologise for what Vodacom has put me through. He was patient, understanding and listened to my unhappiness about the situation, which quite frankly was the level of customer service I expected from both Managers at the store. I am silently shocked at my experience with Vodacom today and their lack of willingness to undo what they caused in the first place. It cost me time, money and unnecessary attitude from staff. Not good Vodacom, NOT GOOD!
