Credit Limit set to R0.00

We did an upgrade on our account as the 2 years’ contract was finished. They gave me a new phone and I advised them that I would like to stay on the same package as it was sufficient for us.

A few days later my phone was useless as I could not call, SMS or browse the internet. I called customer service and they said that the contract was cancelled. I asked the consultant how come I got a new phone when I cancelled my contract. That is very nice of Vodacom to give phones away when cancelling a contract.

Even though I have been a customer for over 10 years and never missed one payment, I had to provide bank statements, payslips etc. to get my account active again. I thought that all is fixed and life can go on. This was however not the case. Up until today, I still cannot make any calls, SMS or browse as my credit limit is R0.00. I log a call with customer service and they "unblock" the number and then I have a few minutes until the phone is a paper weight again.

I had to drive to Vodaworld twice (130km one way) and still no joy.

I got stuck on the side of the road and had to wait for the people at home to call me to find out why I am not home yet as I should have been home 3 hours ago. I was standing on the side of the road and being a target for either a high jacking, armed ******* or any event even worse. The only reason for me being on contract and not prepaid is that I can make calls when I want without any worries.

I called customer care again and they said someone will call me tomorrow morning before 8:30am as the offices are closed now but they have escalated the call. The next day they did not call (not surprised at all). I went back to the vodashop and they were on the phone for more than 2 hours trying to sort out the issue. My phone was back to normal. yippee

Oh no. Can it be? 2 hours later and my phone changed back into a paper weight.

After driving to Midrand (520km for the 2 trips), 3 trips to our vodashop (40km), countless hours on the phone to customer service and my issue is still not resolved.

Will Vodacom have the decency to call me back and say that my problem is fixed? Will Vodacom try and refund / make up for all the petrol money and hours on the phone?

I am actually tired of all the screaming, fighting and frustrations going with this contract. Is this what I get for being a loyal customer for more than 10 years.

My last reference number is 1- ********** 6082 if you are interested in helping
