Credit Health Vodacom MBD in violation of debt collectors act and POPI act

Vodacom's debt collectors have recently started contacting me for the debt of someone else. This is nothing new to me. I've had my nr for close to 15 years now and so getting wrong nrs is nothing new. BUT, when I found out how they got my nr, it raised red flags and led me here, because clearly just talking to them is fruitless. The debtor is not someone I knew or have ever contacted directly - that's why I didn't know who it was they were looking for. Come to find out, they contacted this person's contacts (possibly call logs/contacts) and then got to me from them (by association). So they not only contravene the new POPI act (Vodacom accessing other people's information without their consent or permissible legal precedence and giving it to another party), but are already in breach of the debt collectors act by contacting people who are nr1 - not listed as contactable parties and nr 2 - are not surety for the customer in the event of non-payment.

MBD did not come to this information alone, because they are simply a collector - Vodacom gave them the information and MBD chose to use that information - and this after they were clearly informed about the person being deceased. Just demonstrates the attitude towards respecting your neighbor in South Africa - and it's not just Vodacom - many people and businesses think this kind of behavior is fine....

To MBD's credit - they were never rude. Needless to say, I have no debt of any kind with anyone or any business.

Update on the situation:
I was phoned a few hours after the situation and it does appear that they take the situation quite seriously, for which I am grateful. It's important to note that while Vodacom's name is affected here by a potential bad actor, it does not necessarily reflect their company's whole attitude in how to respond to situations - that is what I am hoping.
Like I said, there is an attitude throughout SA, that you can do what you want as long as you have influence and/or money and sad to say, the legal system tends to follow suit.
