Contradictory advice leading Vodacom to lock me out of their own credit check system!
Absolutely ********** experience with trying to purchase a new contract. I successfully ordered my new contract and phone online. The confirmations department phoned me back to confirm my order was successful. At the END of that phone call, they tell me I will not be able to keep my current number (a Vodacom prepaid number I have had for the last 6 years). To be able to do this, I cannot make a purchase through their online shop, but I needed to have phoned their Online Sales Department. This limitation was not indicated on their website anywhere. Their Confirmations Department employee then tells me the way forward is for her to cancel this currently approved and released order, and for me to phone the Online Sales Department and to place a NEW order. Once I phone the Online Sales Department, however, they tell me I will have to wait 2 months (!!) before I can make a new order, because their credit check system will reject me because I have recently submitted another application... Which is the very application that the Confirmations Department confirmed A) Was approved! and B) Recommended me to cancel. I have now been told by multiple employees that they don't think they can override this but that they will check and phone me back before the end of the day. I have now myself phoned Vodacom every day because of course, none of their employees have phoned me back when they promised to! This is absolutely ridiculous, horrible advice. Given that I was approved for the VERY SAME purchase I am trying to make a mere week ago, and given that it was their own advice that caused this mess, I expect Vodacom to override this aspect of their system and approve my order. But if this isn't sorted within this week (which I do not expect at all) I will have no other choice but to take my business to another provider.
He suggested to rather put me through to the After Sales department, given that they had made the initial mistake. As he only phoned me at 4:55, and it was already 5:05 at that time, I asked him if he was sure they would still pick up because it was already after 5. No, he insisted, they will definitely still be working.
Of course, they did NOT pick up.
I need a manager to phone me and to sort out this mess, AND to take responsibility for Vodacom causing this mess in the first place, as I was following their instructions the whole way.
