Contracts Mix Up - Vodacom Clueless

I upgraded my cell number ********** 898. A new handset but my old contract no longer offered, so new contract new airtime package. Online upgrade via phone on wed 24. new phone arrived 25.

All okay received new handset handset activated.

Works okay for a week.

Today 31st cant make calls cant do sms cant do mails. Reason is no airtime. new package kicks in the 1st June but they have removed my old package before new one kicks in. Begs the question what about unused airtime on old package, does that just disappear into the ether.

I call 082 111. Confirm that upgrade done new package will kick in the 1st june. Cant explain why old package cut off why I have no airtime.

Please call Activations ********** . I do same story. Need to call Online Upgrades. ********** 4. Same story call Activations. I call Activations no please call 082111 and do a sim swap. I ask sim works I can receive calls but cant make so cant be sim.

I have called Customer Care 08211 3 times. Activations ********** 2 times. Online Upgrades ********** 4 3 times.

Still no resolution.

Answer is I must wait till tomorrow and new package will kick in.

So 1 day lost due to no airtime, cant make calls cant read mails. This is true if the new package kicks in tomorrow.

Biggest gripe is their lack of ownership. why must I as a customer have to call different numbers at Vodacom. Why do they say thats Activations problem, why do I hear call Online Upgrades. Why isnt their a SUPER CALL CENTRE person who can work between departments and fix the customers issues.

My theory is its a delibrate ploy by Vodacom to wear the caller down to get them to give up and just accept Vodacoms inability to solve issues that dont fit into boxes defined by Vodacom.

What if my query falls outside the boxes.

Just a warning to others out there upgrade your pacakge at your peril. based on my experience Vodacom doesnt know what its doing and the downside is the inability to communuicate whilst the fix the issue.

No one has called me.
I have now lost 10 gig of data which seems to have dissolved into thin air.
The buck passing doesnt stop.
Also now told that if you upgrade handset and thta involves a package change then there are consequences, that by the way were not read out when doing the upgrade underr the T&Cs.
First is if you upgrade your package, they will cut the old package off the day before month end, and only activate the new package at the beggining of the month. So for a day you will have no airtime, no data no access to making calls getting e-mails etc. It seems if you decide to give Vodacom a new deal the reward is that the punish you by taking away your access for a day. So my advice is dont ever upgrade with Vodacom.
The next is if you upgrade your package you lose any legacy balances you might have had on the old package. So in my case i lost 10 gig of data. The probel is the data wasnt on my number as a result of the Smart M package I had linked to my handset, that date was minimal monthly and never lasted long at all.
The data was there as I had purchased a monthly 5 gig data bundle which I paid for monthly.
The agent says its not on my screen I dont know.
So in spite of paying for data and it not be linked to my pacakge Vodacom decides to ***** iy away and make it disappear.
So if you have data balances dont upgrade either.
I guess the upshot is if you a loyal customer of Vodacom who has done his time and now gets to the 2 year period of an upgrade in Vodacoms eyes you no better than a new customer, cause that how the treat you.
If they going to treat you like a new cistomer my advice is upgarde but upgrade with a new service provider, as Vodacom sees you as a new customer, not a person who has endured their **** for 2 years.
If its
SOO frustrated with Vodacom and their lack of response and accountability.
I have 5 contracts with them.
As each one expires Ill drop them, one by one.
Perhaps Cell C will be a better option.

Had a very good interaction with a lady from Vodacom called Yvonne.
She fixed all my issues.
Just sad that you have to ***** on a site like Hello Peter to get someone who can sort out the issues.
Be nice if such a person was available first off to fix issues.
But Yvonne was an absolute professional, and a nice person who listened.
