Contract not terminated on expiry date

Hi there

Account No. S ********** -0

This account/contract expired on the 2016-11-18

On 2016-10-18 I phoned Vodacom retention/cancellation department to inform them of my intention not to renew or extend my contract beyond 2016-11-18 as the cell phones were costing me in the region of R1500-00 P/M, and as a pensioner I could no longer afford this.

The consultant recommended that I should go PREPAID or TOP UP. I asked him to send me information on his proposals, (To this day I have received nothing} I also told him that I was not renewing my contract beyond 2016-11-18 {which he did not do) Your voice recording will verify this {if still available}.

Somewhere between 2016-11-18 and 2016-12-17. I went to Vodacom (Vodaworld) customer care centre where I spoke to a consultant and explained the situation to her that I could not get my contract cancelled. It was agreed that I would pay to the end of November 2016 and my contract would cease. This did not happen as the account kept coming in.

Utterly frustrated at this point my wife and I called in at Vodaworld on 2016-12-17 and again spoke to a consultant (Sharon Zitha) who was extremely helpful. She filled out a PREMATURE CANCELLATION FORM (scanned copy attached) which reflected a Payment due of R0.00 Note the date of the quotation and the expiry date, also for your benefit the reference numbers 1- ********** 73733 & 1- ********** 819031

Great, all problems solved. Not likely, before long the emails/SMS’s/and messages started rolling in stating that our account was overdue, at first we explained to the people (consultants) that we owe Vodacom nothing as the account/contract has been closed, things started getting nasty when we were told that our account had been handed over for collection. Now we have Vodacom and the debt collectors on our back. This is where I drew the line. I will no longer answer any correspondance or any text messages If somebody from Vodacom Phones I will cut them off without further ado.

We have subsequently taken out a contract with Telkom after a battle to get our numbers released. We are very happy with Telkom.

I expect Vodacom to cease this constant harassment. If it does not you leave me no choice but to seek legal adsvice.

Needless to say we will never do business with Vodacom again
