Contract Migration on Existing contracts - Telesales staff
I have been a loyal Vodacom customer for many years and currently hold five contracts with them. Two of these contracts are very old, and I’ve been trying to pay them off. On Thursday, 30 October 2025, I received a call from a Vodacom agent who claimed he could help me save money on my contracts. He explained that two of my lines were “open lines” costing me a lot and suggested migrating all five contracts to reduce my monthly expenses. He repeatedly assured me that:
None of my contracts would be extended I would save money
At the time, I was paying approximately R1,500 per month. However, during the first week of November, I started receiving quotes showing that contracts previously billed at R80 per month would now cost over R480 per month. I also received messages stating that my upgrades had been completed, even though the consultant insisted these were not upgrades and that my contract terms would remain unchanged. When I contacted Vodacom, I was informed that my new monthly fee would be R3,200—an increase of R1,700 per month, which is the opposite of what was promised. I requested that the migration be reversed, but Vodacom advised that:
The reversal would only take effect at the end of November I would still need to pay R3,200 for this month, as billing had already been processed
This is unacceptable and highly unprofessional. Vodacom knowingly mislead me, despite my clear intention to reduce expenses. Their aggressive sales tactics leave customers in a terrible financial position. My advice to other consumers: Do not agree to changes over the phone. Rather visit a Vodacom store in person to make any adjustments. I am now left with an unexpected additional cost of R1,700, which I had not budgeted for. Vodacom’s behaviour is misleading and *********.
