Contract cancellation was not processed - taking debit orders wrongfully and now in arrear

I phoned in advance 14/07/2016 to cancel my vodacom data bundle contract effective end of July 2016 as it has been 2 years already and got a different data option.
In the month of August I still got a billing statement and phoned into the call centre to confirm that the cancelation has been processed, and they said it has not - he will follow up on the cancellation and escalate this as it is a dispute.
Putting my trust with the consultant I thougth it would be resolved.
Following up on this call the next week - the consultant said there was no evidence of any escalation! What was he doing then?
It was now end of August already, and my contract has still not been cancelled and my account has been debited with the contract amount AGAIN the beginning of September.
I phoned into the call centre to ask what is happening on the account and they said it has not been cancelled and the best they can do now is cancel my account end of August (which is not my fault). I insisted on speaking with the senior Kalebo and he said, they will cancel it effective end of August and give me the benefit of the credit. This is still not what I as the customer wanted and I reversed the debit order because they did not have authority to take the debit order and to get their attention because nothing seemed to work.

I phoned in again last week to confirm the account status, and the debit account was still being investigated - this is now mid September already. The lady was helpful and I got assurance that everything will be alright.
Now I get an email from VODACOM SAYING MY ACCOUNT IS IN ARREAR and this will then of course affect my credit record!
I phoned into the acconts department (Nqmbile) to ask what is going on, and it says the account is in arrear and if I want to query the account I will have to call in with cancellations again, went through that process - to type in the number and everything and I just gave up on following up on this..... This is a data bundle contract, I calling out all of my airtime - as my sim I'm phoning from is not from Vodacom.

This is absolutely poor! I am tired of not knowing what is going on and in that case - being affected on my credit record - this is damaging my reputation and it is vodacom's fault.
